Baseball Shuts Out Western New England on Senior Day

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College baseball team shut out Western New England 3-0 in its season finale on Wednesday afternoon at the Jack Vallely Diamond on Senior Day.

The Colonels got on the board in the bottom of the fourth after graduate student Jared Keller (Oxford, Conn.) doubled to left field, scoring junior Jason Leonard (Dedham, Mass.).

Curry added a pair of runs in the fifth. Freshman Ryan Goonan (Raynham, Mass.) converted a sacrifice fly to center, which scored senior Garrett Fosher (Exeter, N.H.) from third. Freshman Joan Peralta (Brooklyn, N.Y.) drove in junior Eric Sennott (Odessa, Fla.) on a single through the left side for the final run of the ball game.

Peralta finished 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI to pace the Colonels. Senior Mack Palmer (Princeton Junction, N.J.), sophomore Vincent Caccavale (East Hartford, Conn.), and sophomore EJ Dudley (Meriden, Conn.) each tallied a hit for the Golden Bears.

Sophomore Donovan Potemri (Avon, Mass.) was credited with the win on the mound for Curry. He tossed two innings of hitless ball while striking out two and walking one. Senior Matt Vigliotti (Verplanck, N.Y.) was tagged with the loss for Western New England. He tossed 1.1 innings and surrendered three runs (all earned) on four hits to go along with two strikeouts.

Following the game, the program honored its six seniors: Keller, Fosher, Riley Cronin (East Providence, R.I.), Dylan Ketterer (Plymouth, Mass.), Philip Ledwith (Old Saybrook, Conn.), and Zachary Wensley (Raynham, Mass.) in a special ceremony.

The contest marked the end of the season for both teams: Curry (5-18 overall) and Western New England (6-10-1).
