DUDLEY, Mass. – The Curry College baseball team dropped a 9-3 decision to Nichols College on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference play.

Nichols fell behind by two runs before roaring back with nine straight to take command. Graduate student Kyle Bouchard (Fall River, Mass.) finished with two hits, four RBI, and two runs to pace the Bison while senior Nathaniel Cormier (Sandisfield, Mass.) went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Nichols senior reliever Brodie Altiere (North Adams, Mass.) picked up the victory on the hill, surrendering one hit while striking out four over four innings of work. Seven Bison pitchers combined to hold Curry to only six hits on the day.

Junior Julian Jaume (Staten Island, N.Y.) led off the contest with a single up the middle and would later come around to score on a passed ball. Freshman Joan Peralta (Brooklyn, N.Y.) contributed the final run of the frame when he reached on a fielder's choice and classmate Ryan Goonan (Raynham, Mass.) crossed home, thanks to a throwing error at third base to put the Colonels up 2-0.

The Bison tied the game in the second on an RBI double to right center by Bouchard, which brought around junior Victor Valentin (Miramar, Fla.). In the next at-bat, Cormier singled up the middle to plate Bouchard.

Nichols pulled ahead for good in the fourth, tallying two more runs. Francis Vuolo (Bayonne, N.J.) reached on an error in right field, which brought around freshman Noah Hickey (Bristol, Conn.) and sophomore Brad Ellis (Morris, Conn.) knocked a base hit up the middle to allow Vuolo to touch home.

The Bison tacked on four more in the sixth, three of which came on the same swing. Graduate student Jack Arend (Newfields, N.H.)  doubled down the right field line to bring home freshman Ben Jerome (Waterford, Conn.) and Bouchard launched a three-run homer to right field to extend the lead to six, 8-2.

Curry plated one more run, which came in the top of the eighth. Freshman Aaron Diaz (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) reached on an error by the third baseman and advanced to second on another error. The second miscue brought home junior Jacob Bishop (Taunton, Mass.).

Curry senior starter Garrett Fosher (Exeter, N.H.) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits over 4.0 innings and was tagged for his first loss of the season.

Curry (3-14 overall) will next host Suffolk University on Wednesday, April 21 at 3:00 p.m. Nichols (10-8 overall) returns to action at Western New England University on Saturday, April 17 in a doubleheader starting at noon.
