NEWPORT, R.I. – The Curry College baseball team lost by a 7-3 final at Salve Regina University on Wednesday afternoon.

Curry scored a run in the third inning on a solo home run to left field from freshman Tyler Sepinski (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.).

The Seahawks came back with three runs of their own in the home half of the fourth. Senior Anthony Cieszko (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) singled to third base to plate sophomore Justice Welch (Hackensack, N.J.) and sophomore Matt D'Amato (Midland Park, N.J.) doubled to center field to bring freshman Gianfranco Messina (Cranston, R.I.) and graduate student Zach Barlok (Cheshire, Conn.) around to score to go up 3-1.

The Colonels got a run back in the fifth following a double to left field from senior Garrett Fosher (Exeter, N.H.). The two-bagger scored classmate Riley Cronin (East Providence, R.I.).

Salve Regina tacked on three more in the bottom of the fifth. Cieszko contributed a two-RBI double to center, D'Amato bunted to plate Cieszko, and D'Amato stole second, advanced to third on an error and scored on another miscue in the outfield to push the score to 7-2.

Sophomore Conor Hanlon (Beverly, Mass.) capped off the scoring with a solo shot to center field for the 7-3 final.

Junior Michael Mulrean (Easton, Mass.) was the first of four pitchers used by Curry. He surrendered three runs (all earned) on one hit over 3.1 innings and struck out six.

Chris Beach (East Orleans, Mass.) was credited with the victory on the hill for Salve Regina, tossing one inning and striking out a pair.
