Jenkins, Leonard Pick Up CCC Weekly Awards

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – A pair of student-athletes from the Curry College baseball team picked up weekly awards from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), as announced by the league office on Monday. He then drove in the game-winning run with a sacrifice fly in the opening game to give the Colonels the 5-4 victory. He had one hit, two walks, and, two RBI during the doubleheader.

Leonard is awarded with the title of CCC Rookie of the Week after he collected his first collegiate hit in game two of the Colonels' non-conference doubleheader against Fitchburg State. His first knock was a memorable one as he touched them all for his first collegiate home run. He also reached via a walk and drove in a run in the early game.

Jenkins, Leonard, and the Colonels (1-1 overall) will now head south and open play in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Saturday, March 9 against Dickinson in a doubleheader starting at 5:30 p.m.
