MILTON, Mass. – A three-run bottom of the ninth gave Curry College a 4-3 walk-off victory over UMass Boston Monday afternoon at D. Forbes Will Field in a non-conference contest.  The host Colonels would record three hits in the bottom of the ninth and would score their game-winning run on a hit batter to edge the Beacons.

Monday's win marks the second straight for the Colonels. The Beacons fell to 13-15, while Curry improved to 8-22 overall.

Trailing 3-1 in the ninth, the Colonels led off the inning with a double to left field.  After a fielder's choice to get their first out of the inning the Beacons went to the bullpen for the second time.  Curry then cut the Beacons lead to one on an RBI double from Alex McLean.  UMass would get their second out on a strikeout still leading by one with the tying run on second.

Tim Lathrop would then tie the game at 3-3 on a pinch hit single to right field.  The Colonels would then load the bases on a walk and hit batter.  The deciding run would come when Philip Perez was hit by senior righty Matt Dziok who was the second pitcher out of the Beacons bullpen.

Dziok was handed the loss for the Beacons after going 1/3 inning in which he allowed the two runs, both earned, on two hits.  Will Barrack earned the no decision as the senior righty went the first eight complete and allowed the two runs, one earned, on eight hits.  The Virginia native also had four strikeouts.

Mark Rebello picked up his second win of the year after not allowing a hit in the top of the ninth, while also picking up one K.  McLean led Curry as he went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.  Curry finished with 10 hits to earn the non-conference victory.

For the Beacons, Jose Pena recorded his second home run in the last three games as the senior sent 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.  The Beacons bats struggled to get hot as they were held to just five hits in the loss.

UMass Boston returns to action tomorrow when they travel to the University of Southern Maine for a 3:30 p.m. Little East Conference game.  Curry College will travel to Brandeis University tomorrow afternoon.  First pitch is scheduled for 3 pm.
