Baseball Concludes Georgia Trip with 10-1 Loss to Oglethorpe

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Oglethorpe University baseball team completed a three-game sweep over visiting Curry College Sunday at Anderson Field, defeating them 10-1. The win improves the Stormy Petrels to 4-2 on the season while the loss drops the Colonels to 0-3.

The Petrels got a solid pitching performance for the second straight contest, this one from sophomore Kyle Mitchell. He carried a no-hitter through 7 1/3 innings and had a shutout through 8 2/3 innings. A ninth-inning, two-out double by freshman Brian Burke scored junior Tanner Givens with Curry's only run.

OU designated hitter Patrick Kulick turned in a 2-for-3 day with a double, two runs and two stolen bases. Second baseman Keith Dearden turned in a 2-for-4 day himself, recording a double and a walk to go with two runs and an RBI.

Colonels' rookie pitcher Vincent LoPriore took the loss, surrendering five hits and five earned runs over two innings.

Curry returns to action in Winter Haven, Florida on March 8, taking on Lesley University in a 3:00 p.m. contest.
