Baseball Tripped Up by Visiting Rhode Island College, 5-3
MILTON, Mass. – Visiting Rhode Island College outlasted Curry College, 5-3, in non-conference baseball action Thursday afternoon in Milton. The Anchormen improved to 8-21 while the Colonels fell to 6-16-2.

Senior shortstop Zach Hubbard (Kissimmee, FL) went 2-for-4 with a double, while freshman catcher Matt Foley (Seekonk, MA) drilled his seventh homer of the season for the Anchormen. Sophomore left fielder Dean Grasso (Cranston, RI) went 2-for-4 with a run scored, a double and two steals.

The visitors took a 1-0 lead in the second inning by loading the bases with one out and Hubbard came through with an RBI single.

Rhode Island College increased its advantage to 3-0 in the fifth as Grasso led off with a double and quickly scored on Foley's follow-up blast.

In the sixth, sophomore second baseman Tyler Collins (Cranston, RI) singled and stole second. Senior center fielder Kevin Carey (Wakefield, RI) later brought him in with an RBI single.

The Colonels got one run back in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run to left field by senior Sam Barron (Hadley, MA), but a Hubbard sacrifice fly staked the Anchormen to a 5-1 advantage heading into the final frame.

Curry scored twice in its final at-bat. Sophomore Derek Pizarro (Cambridge, MA) reached on an error scoring junior Brandon Lewis (Barrington, RI) then junior Matt O’Neill (Milton, MA) was safe on a fielder's choice that plated freshman Tim Lathrop (Colchester, CT). But senior pitcher Andrew McKeon (Johnston, RI) came on to pick up the save.
