Sweeney Named TCCC Player of the Year; Moore Garners Pitcher of the Year Honors
MILTON, Mass. - The major individual award winners in baseball in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) were recently announced by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye.  Curry senior Tim Sweeney was selected TCCC Player of the Year and Curry senior Cory Moore was named TCCC Pitcher of the Year. Voting for each of the major awards was conducted among TCCC baseball coaches.

Sweeney, a senior outfielder from Walpole, Mass., was the catalyst for a potent Colonel lineup which led the league in conference-only play in runs scored, batting average, doubles, and stolen bases.  Sweeney had a tremendous year, ranking first in TCCC play in numerous statistical categories including: batting average (.531), slugging percentage (.790), on-base percentage (.560), hits (43), runs scored (36), RBI (34), doubles (10), and total bases (64). Overall, through games of April 30 2010, he had already established school records for runs scored (60), hits (70) and doubles (20) in a season. Sweeney became the fourth Curry player in a row to garner conference Player of the Year honors, following Chris Scarola in 2007, David Vincent in 2008, and Rick Vail in 2009.

Moore, a senior from Lynn, Mass., posted a 1.80 ERA and a 3-0 record with a pair of complete games in conference-only play, striking out 24 in 20 innings of work. Moore continued his excellence in non-conference play, entering TCCC postseason action with an overall record of 5-0 and a stellar 1.10 ERA in 41 innings pitched. His overall ERA of 1.10 was good for the top spot among all TCCC pitchers. Among the school records that Moore currently holds are appearances (57), wins (16), saves (15) and strikeouts (182) in a career.
