Baseball Enjoys Another Offensive Explosion, Taking a Pair from NEC, 22-5 and 15-4

HENNIKER, N.H. – The Curry College baseball team took two games from New England College Saturday afternoon, winning game one 22-5 and beating the Pilgrims 15-4 in game two.
 
With the two wins the Colonels improve to 12-6 overall and 9-1 in the TCCC.  The losses drop the Pilgrims to 2-17 on the season and 0-10 in the conference.
 
In game one, Curry would pound out 20 hits and explode for 10 runs in the fifth inning cruising to the 22-5 victory.
 
Leading the way for Colonels was Carlos Cornejo (Lake Forest, Calif.), who finished 5-for-6 at the plate, including two home runs, five runs batted in and three runs scored.  Curry’s Tony Luciani (Weymouth, Mass.) picked up three hits, including a home run and four runs batted in, and Brad Hawn (Chino Hills, Calif.), who finished with two doubles and a single.
 
Picking up the win on the mound for Curry was Miles Galvin (Deerfield Beach, Fla.), who pitched five innings allowing two earned runs on five hits.
 
Leading the way for NEC was Tyler Perrin (Thetford, Vt.) who singled twice and drove in three runs.  NEC’s Jimmy Lauzon (Manchester, N.H.) picked up three hits, including a double for the Pilgrims.
 
In game two, Curry would jump out to the early 4-0 lead and then put up five runs in the third and six runs in the fifth, eventually beating NEC 15-4.
 
Luciani continued his hot hitting for the Colonels going 3-for-4 in game two with four runs batted in and two runs scored.  Curry’s Jesse Bruinsma (Lynnfield, Mass.) finished with three hits, including a home run and three runs batted in.  Tim Sweeney (Walpole, Mass.) and Matt Rodriguez (Quincy, Mass.) each recorded three hits in game two.
 
Picking up the win on the mound for Curry was Mike Hughes (Middleboro, Mass.) who allowed just one earned run in five innings of work.
 
NEC’s Chris Gagne (Rochester, N.H.) singled twice for the Pilgrims and Tyler Perrin finished with a single and two runs batted in. (Game recaps courtesy of NEC Sports Information)
