BIDDEFORD, Maine - A pair of Curry College student-athletes earned weekly awards from the Commonwealth Coast Conference on Monday afternoon.
Freshman men's ice hockey student-athlete Shane Soderwall (Algonquin, Ill.) was named both the CCC Goaltender and Rookie of the Week, while sophomore Jason Romans (Peabody, Mass.) earned CCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
Soderwall recorded his first collegiate shutout on Saturday afternoon, stopping all 33 shots he faced in Curry's 3-0 road victory over Wesleyan University.
Romans continued his stellar sophomore campaign on Tuesday with his second buzzer-beating game-winner of the season. He dropped a team-high 26 points while also wracking up 10 rebounds, seven assists, and four steals in Curry's thrilling 79-77 overtime win over UMass Boston.
Both players earn their first weekly awards of the 2023-24 season.
