Four Colonels Earn CCC Weekly Honors

BIDDEFORD, Maine - Four Curry College student-athletes earned weekly recognition from the Commonwealth Coast Conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Representing the Curry football team was CCC Special Teams Player of the Week Colin Ridley (Peabody, Mass.), CCC Defensive Rookie of the Week Jolil Walker (Baltimore, Md.), and CCC Offensive Rookie of the Week Lucas Leander (Rockland, Mass.). From the women's soccer team, junior goalkeeper Hannah Correa (Carver, Mass.) was named the CCC Defensive Player of the Week.

Ridley had two kickoff returns for an average of 56.0 yards on Saturday in Curry's 47-14 victory over Dean. Ridley's longest return of the day measured at 75 yards, before he finally got taken down just six yards shy of the end zone.

Walker notched four tackles in Curry's win over Dean on Saturday, with one forced fumble, one interception, and one pass breakup.

Leander caught a pair of passes, including a touchdown, in Curry's victory. His two catches totaled 31 yards, including a 24-yard touchdown catch that opened the scoring early in the first quarter.

Correa allowed just one goal in two games with 15 saves in Curry's 1-0-1 week. Correa started the week with a nine-save shutout over Fitchburg State on Tuesday, before stopping six of seven against Gordon in league action on Friday. She finished the week with a 0.50 goals against and a .938 save percentage.

Ridley, Leander, and Correa all earn their first weekly awards of the season. Walker was also the CCC Defensive Rookie of the Week on September 18.
