Three Colonels Earn CCC Weekly Honors

BIDDEFORD, Maine - Three Curry College student-athletes earned recognition from the Commonwealth Coast Conference on Monday as the league announced its first weekly award winners of 2023.

The #13 Curry men's ice hockey team swept the awards, as freshman Gage Dill (Estero, Fla.) was named CCC Player and Rookie of the Week, while graduate student Reid Cooper (Corman Park, Saskatchewan) was named the Goaltender of the Week. Men's basketball freshman Carl Monplaisir (Vero Beach, Fla.) also received honors, as he was named the CCC Rookie of the Week.

Dill had points in both games over the weekend as the Colonels came out victorious in the Northfield Savings Bank Holiday Tournament hosted by Norwich University. He notched two goals and an assist in the opener against Trinity on Friday, before scoring the game-winner in Saturday's championship against #8 Norwich to finish the weekend with four points. He was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player for his performance.

Cooper picked up both wins in net for the Colonels in the NSB Tournament. He stopped 27 of 30 shots against Trinity on Friday in a 4-3 win, before turning away 26 of 27 against #8 Norwich in the title game on Saturday. He was named to the All-Tournament team for his efforts.

Monplaisir went off for a season-high 24 points on Friday as the Colonels defeated Bard College 89-78. The rookie shot 10-of-12 from the field in the win, with three rebounds, one assist, and one block.

It is the second time this season Dill has been named CCC Rookie of the Week, and first time being named CCC Player of the Week. Cooper earns his first CCC Goaltender of the Week. Monplaisir is the first Curry men's basketball CCC weekly award honoree of the season.
