BOSTON, Mass. – On Wednesday, May 9, nearly 1,300 people gathered into the Seaport World Trade Center to raise funds and awareness for Team IMPACT at their six annual Game Day Gala. Curry College student-athletes Alex Corvese (Cranston, R.I.), Steven Grogan (Forestdale, Mass.), Rebecca Black (East Greenwich, R.I.), and Jessica Saluti (Braintree, Mass.) volunteered at the event along with students Raymond Espinosa and AJ Hommert.

Hosted by ESPN's Wendi Nix, guests enjoyed a program filled with stories of courage and hope from children, families, and athletes. Pop star Rachel Platten performed her hit single "Fight Song" in celebration of all the young fighters, and the special guests included Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, and Patriots stars Julian Edelman, Rex Burkhead, Patrick Chung, Matthew Slater and David Andrews.

The event raised $2.3 million for the Team IMPACT organization. Team IMPACT continues to grow and now works with more than 1,500 children, 500 colleges and 50,000 student-athletes in 48 states.

"Once again, on behalf of everyone at Team IMPACT, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to the student-athletes at Curry College," said Mary Welker, Regional Director of Team IMPACT said. "The 2018 Game Day Gala was a huge success and that success was in large part, to the awesome student-athletes who volunteered to help at this event! It is wonderful to know that we can always count on our Curry friends to be the first to step up and help us out! We couldn't be prouder of the partnership between Team IMPACT and Curry College Athletics and we couldn't be more grateful for your continuous support."
