Women's Soccer Falls at Western New England in Conference Play, 5-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team fell by a 5-0 final at Western New England University on Saturday afternoon at Suprenant Field in Commonwealth Coast Conference play.

The Golden Bears (8-6-1 overall, 4-4-1 CCC) picked up their fourth straight win of as three different players found the back of the net. Vanessa Chiarella (Hampden, Mass.) netted the lone goal in the opening half, which proved to be the game winner. Western New England then tacked on four scores over the final 45 minutes to seal the victory, two from Chiarella to complete a hat trick.

Curry goalkeeper Maggie Chamberlain (Taunton, Mass.) recorded nine saves in the loss. Sarah McGrath (North Dartmouth, Mass.) and Isabella Shields (Lakeville, Mass.) each two shots on goal in the contest.

Western New England held a 26-15 advantage in shots for the match, while the Colonels held a 6-5 edge in corners.

Curry (8-7-1 overall, 1-3-1 CCC) will return home on Wednesday, October 17 against Roger Williams at 6:30 p.m. Western New England returns to action on Wednesday at Eastern Connecticut State University at 7:00 p.m.
