Women's Soccer Drops Non-Conference Finale at UMass Boston, 5-0

BOSTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team lost its non-conference finale by a 5-0 final to UMass Boston on Thursday night at James Cotter Field.

Kate Leavitt (Plymouth, Mass.) netted a pair of goals while Jaclyn O'Grady (Somers, Conn.), Eryn Kelly (Plymouth, Mass.), and Allie Crawford (Kingston, Mass.) scored one apiece for the Beacons, who improved to 7-3-1 overall.

O'Grady opened the scoring with a shot inside the 18 and beat Katelyn DeMaio (North Andover, Mass.) high for the first marker of the game at the 6:58 mark. Kelly posted the second goal for UMass Boston in the 34th minute off assists from Crawford and Grace Oliver (Rockland, Mass.). Just over a minute later, Crawford netted another goal, this time with the helper going to Taylor Bilyak (Willington, Conn). The final tally of the half came at the 42:57 mark as Leavitt headed in a shot off a corner from Oliver to give the Beacons a 4-0 lead at the break.

In the second half, Leavitt added another goal to increase the lead to 5-0. Leavitt connected on a shot off a free kick from 30 yards out and deposited it in the back of the net for the final margin.

DeMaio finished with four saves as UMass Boston held a 21-14 advantage in shots. Abby McCulloch (Weymouth, Mass.) recorded her second clean sheet of the season, making six saves.

Curry (7-6-1 overall) will next travel to Nichols College on Tuesday, October 9 at 3:00 p.m. UMass Boston returns to action at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, October 6 at 2:00 p.m.
