Men's Soccer Ends Season With Loss to Gordon, 3-0

MILTON, Mass. – Gordon College came away with a 3-0 victory over Curry College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's soccer play on Tuesday night at Walter M. Katz Field. Prior to the contest, the Colonels honored its two seniors, Brandon Duhaime (Milford, Conn.) and Kyle Henry (Danville, Calif.) in a special Senior Day ceremony.  

The Fighting Scots (9-6-1 overall, 5-2-1 CCC) scored all three goals in the second half, all within a seven minute span. Jarvin Ramirez (Milton, Ga.) got Gordon on the board while Ian Burkhart (Lancaster, Pa.) and Joshua Winnett (Milton, Ga.) goals while goalkeeper Wesley Sprague (Naperville, Ill.) came into the game in relief of Brody Veleber (Coatesville, Pa.), who turned away two shots in the first half.

Curry keeper Dylan Griffin (Hornell, N.Y.) had a busy day, finishing with eight saves against 19 total shots.

Ramirez put the Fighting Scots on the scoreboard in the 80th minute, finding the back of the net off a free kick in the 80th minute following a foul from Curry. Less than two minutes later, Burkhart tallied a goal, once again off a free kick. They tacked on an insurance goalie at the 87:15 mark as Winnett flicked a shot past Griffin to put Gordon up 3-0.  

The Fighting Scots held a 19-10 edge in shots for the contest while also having a 4-2 lead in corner kicks. Duhaime, Claudio Orsini (Watertown, Conn.), Nico Sabbatini (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), and Devin Andre (Attleboro, Mass.) had two shots apiece to pace Curry.

Curry (6-11-1 overall, 0-8-0 CCC) concludes the season with the loss. Gordon will now await the CCC Tournament release to find out its next opponent.
