Men's Soccer Drops League Contest to Roger Williams, 2-0

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's soccer team lost a 2-0 decision to visiting Roger Williams University on Wednesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference play at Walter M. Katz Field.

Jacob Grant (Flemington, N.J.) scored both goals for the Hawks, who improved to 14-2-0 overall and 4-2-0 in the CCC. The loss dropped the Colonels to 6-10-1 on the season and 0-7-0 in league play.

Roger Williams got on the board in the 28th minute as Grant connected on a shot off a pass from Colby Decker (Colchester, Conn.) and put it past Curry goalkeeper Dylan Griffin (Hornell, N.Y.) to put the Hawks up 1-0. The tally was the only score for either side for the first half.

During the first half, Roger Williams held a 5-1 edge in shots while the teams were even in corners with three apiece.

The visitors tacked on an insurance tally in the 62nd minute as Grant found the back of the net again, this time with the unassisted marker to go up 2-0, the eventual final.

Roger Williams held the advantage in shots (12-4), shots on goal (6-1), while Curry had the lead in corner kicks (6-4).

Edmund Geschickter (Brookline, Mass.) faced one shot to claim his fifth complete-game shutout on the season. Griffin finished with four saves in defeat.

Curry returns to the pitch on Tuesday, October 23 at home against Gordon College at 6:30 for their regular season finale. Roger Williams returns home for a conference match against Wentworth on Friday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m.
