Men's Soccer Downed at Nichols, 4-1

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's soccer team suffered a 4-1 setback against Nichols College on Wednesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Vendetti Field.

Nichols (10-3-1 overall, 2-2-1 CCC) scored all four goals in the first half. Gregory Giglio (Deer Park, N.Y.), Chris Noga (Belchertown, Mass.), Evan Lemoine (Rutland, Mass.), and Cole Houghton (Gorham, Maine) each scored for the Bison. Junior Mitchell Forbes (Boxford, Mass.) scored the lone goal for the Colonels (6-8-1 overall, 0-5-0 CCC).

Giglio opened the scoring for Nichols at the 9:45 mark off an assist from Noga to grab the early 1-0 advantage. Curry scored the equalizer as Forbes netted a penalty shot after Brandon Dickens (East Hartford, Conn.) was fouled in the box to knot the contest at one in the 12th minute. Noga broke the tie at the 19:54 mark with his sixth goal of the season, the assist going to Ali Ali (West Springfield, Mass.). Just over two minutes later, Lemoine found the back of the net off a pass from Giglio. The Bison tallied the final goal in the contest as Houghton sunk a penalty kick in the 42nd minute to close out the scoring column.

Patrick Porpora (Westminster, Mass.) converted six saves against seven shots for Nichols. Paul DeMaio (North Andover, Mass.) finished with eight stops in 73:10 for the Colonels. Dylan Griffin (Hornell, N.Y.) came in the game in relief, not facing a single shot.

The Bison outshot Curry 23-10 for the contest while the Colonels held an 8-6 edge in corners. Nick Randall (Walpole, Mass.), Jonathan Sarkis (Walpole, Mass.), and Forbes paced Curry with two shots each.

Curry will next play at Western New England University on Saturday, October 13 at 1:30 p.m. Nichols travels to the University of New England on Saturday for a league contest at 3:30 p.m.
