MILTON, Mass. – A pair of second-half scores were the difference as Elms College came away with a 2-1 victory at Curry College on Wednesday night in a non-conference men's soccer tilt at Walter M. Katz Field.

Shaquille Robinson (New York, N.Y.) and Colby Macdonald (Leicester, Mass.) each scored goals at the 58:52 and 60:22 marks of the contest to spur the Blazers to a 2-0 advantage. Goalkeeper AJ Oliveira (Beacon Falls, Conn.) later made a save on a penalty kick in the second half to keep the Colonels off the scoreboard, but the ball found its way back to Brandon Rinaldi (Watertown, Conn.) and he put it past Oliveira to get Curry on the scoreboard.

In a game that was played in even in the first half in the shot category (5-5), Robinson put the Blazers in front in the 58th minute with his first marker of the season. He settled a ball on a breakaway in the box and quickly slipped it by Paul DeMaio (North Andover, Mass.) for the 1-0 lead. Just under two minutes later, Robinson connected with Macdonald to double the margin. Macdonald's goal was his first of the year as Elms took the 2-0 lead with just under 30 minutes remaining in regulation.

Curry had a golden chance to cut into the deficit late in the second half as Brandon Dickens (East Hartford, Conn.) originally found the back of the net, but was waved off by the officials. After the Colonels were awarded a penalty kick, Rinaldi put his attempt past Oliveira to cut the deficit in half at the 74:35 mark, 2-1.

The Colonels kept fighting until the end as they got off six shots in the second half. However, Elms didn't allow Curry another scoring opportunity and hung on to close out the win.

Oliveira finished with five saves against six total shots and improved to 1-4-0 on the season. DeMaio also made five stops against seven shots. 

Curry (6-4-1) will conclude its season-long four-game homestand on Saturday, September 29 as the Colonels will welcome in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent the University of New England for a 7:30 p.m. The contest also marks the annual Homecoming and Family Weekend game for Curry. Elms (2-7-0) returns to the pitch on Saturday as they will travel to Becker for a conference contest at 2:00 p.m.
