WENHAM, Mass. – The Curry College men's basketball team fell by a 105-89 final at Gordon College on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Bennett Center.

Junior Eric Demers (Acushnet, Mass.) notched a team-high 19 points and added four rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block for the host Fighting Scots, who led from wire-to-wire. He shot 8-for-11 from the field and was one of three Gordon players reach double figures. Jake Haar (Huntington Beach, Calif.) posted 12 points while Aljernod Terry (Orlando, Fla.) pitched in 12 points, eight rebounds, and four assists off the bench.  

RJ Hadfield (Warwick, R.I.) led the Colonels (0-7 overall, 0-2 CCC) with a career-high 26 points off the bench, including eight field goals from beyond the arc. Jared Thorpe-Johnson (Dorchester, Mass.) registered 20 points on 6-for-19 shooting while adding six rebounds, four assists, and one steal. Dashawn Williams (New Haven, Conn.) was the final player in double figures with 14 points in a reserve role.

Gordon, which outrebounded Curry 48-32 and held a 50-10 scoring advantage in the paint, also helped its own cause by forcing 14 turnovers that resulted in 22 points. The Fighting Scots shot 63 percent in the first half but cooled down to finish at 58 percent for the game. In all, the Curry bench tallied 60 points to 52 for Gordon.

The Fighting Scots opened the game on a 10-0 run and extended the lead to 20 on a three from Demers at the 13:42 mark, 23-3. The lead would be pushed to as many as 29 in the first half following a layup from Terry with 38 seconds to go. Thorpe-Johnson knocked down a free throw with three seconds left to cut the deficit to 28 at the half, 52-24.

Curry came out of the locker room and shot 47 percent from the floor and 50 percent from distance. Hadfield and Williams each went 5-for-7 and 4-for-6 from deep to pace the Colonels in the second half. Curry cut the deficit to as few as 16 before the end of regulation after a layup by Seth Foley (Bristol, Conn.) to make the score 103-87 with 1:27 left. The teams traded the final three baskets as Gordon came away with the 105-89 victory.  

Curry will next play at home against Nichols College on Tuesday, December 4 at 5:30 p.m. Gordon (5-1 overall, 2-0 CCC) returns to the court at home against Western New England University on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
