Curry Volleyball Bested By Framingham State in Three Sets (25-17, 26-24, 25-13)

MILTON, Mass- The Framingham State women's volleyball team captured a 3-0 victory at Curry College on Thursday in non-conference action at the Katz Gymnasium. With the win, Framingham improves to 19-10 on the season. Curry drops to 10-13 on the season.  Prior to the game, the team honored the program's three seniors: Alyssa Keeney (Coventry, Conn.) , Nicole Grambley (North Attleboro, Mass.)  and Makayla Hughes (Franklin, N.H.) in their final home game.

Alycia Rackliffe posted a match-high 21 kills to pace the Rams , who won by set scores of 25-17, 26-24 and 25-13. MacKenzie Whalen handed out 28 assists to go with 11 digs while Sarah Leonard chipped in with 14 digs of her own. Framingham State registered a hitting percentage of .214 and produced a total of 41 kills.

The Colonels were paced by eight kills from Grambley. Grace Stafford (West Yarmouth, Mass.) added six kills and 15 digs while Courtney Carroll (Fairhaven, Mass.) led the team with 16 digs.

In the opening set, Framingham State jumped out to an early 12-7 lead.  They eventually built their lead to 23-15 following a 5-0 run. With the Rams leading by eight the Colonels would win two more points and then Framingham State closed out the set by a final of 25-17 on an attack error by Stafford.

The second set featured a closer battle between the teams. The teams traded the first 11 points of the set before either team could build a lead. The Rams would go up by three at 14-11 and eventually grow their lead to 20-15.

But Curry would fight back, pulling the set to within one at 21-20. Framingham State eventually took the second set, 26-24.

The Rams raced out to to earn a 10-5 advantage in the third set. Framingham State to stretch the lead to 15-8 and then closed out the set with a score 25-13 to take the set and match.

Curry will now wait to see who their opponent will be in the upcoming CCC Tournament in a quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday, November 1st. Framingham State will next play a tri-match at Worcester State on Saturday against Worcester State and Rhode Island College.
