Women's Volleyball Knocked Off 3-0 by CCC Rival Western New England

MILTON, Mass. – Visiting Western New England recorded 42 total kills from 10 different players, notching a 3-0 victory over Curry Wednesday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's volleyball action. Set scores were 25-13, 25-11 and 25-18. The Golden Bears improved to 15-6 overall and 3-0 in CCC play, while the Colonels slipped to 6-15 on the season and 0-4 in league contests.

WNE led throughout the first set, finishing with a 25-13 victory and retained their momentum heading into the second set, claiming a 25-11 edge. In the third set, Curry took a four-point lead (15-11), but the Golden Bears responded and outlasted the Colonels, 25-18.

Junior Olivia Lathrop (Farmington, Conn.) paced WNE with 11 kills, while freshman Carly Skibinski (Milford, N.J.) added eight kills. Sophomore Jessica Sincero (Verplanck, N.Y.) dished out a game-high 22 assists, while classmate Jenna Leuck (Dumont, N.J.) recorded 12 helpers. Senior Grace Kucharski (Avon, Conn.) collected a match-best 20 digs.

Curry was led by freshman Nicole Rice (Woburn, Mass.) led with a team-best nine kills, while sophomore Makayla Hughes (Franklin, N.H.) chipped in with 12 assists. Freshman Courtney Carroll (Fairhaven, Mass.) added two service aces and six digs.

The Golden Bears return to action on Friday, travelling to Amherst for a 7:00 p.m. matchup, while the Colonels travel to the University of New England on Tuesday for a CCC contest slated for a 7:00 p.m. start.
