Women's Volleyball Falls to Worcester State, 3-0, on Opening Night of Wesleyan Quad

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Wesleyan University women's volleyball team defeated the visiting Mitchell College Mariners, 3-0 (25-9, 25-10, 25-7) at Silloway Gym Friday night in the first of three matches this weekend in the Wesleyan Quad.

The other half of the Quad Match Friday night was dominated by Worcester State University, as the Lancers knocked off Curry College, 3-0 (25-22, 25-12, 25-10).

Senior quad captain Alyssa Jasper, who had 10 kills and two aces, led Worcester St. to its victory. Junior Jennifer Cabral added 11 digs and two aces, while senior Kaylee Lewis had 10 digs for the match. Setter Amanda Lewis had 32 assists in the win.

Curry was led by sophomore tri-captain Kayla Pederson's seven kills. Freshman Nicole Rice and senior Christina Wallis each had two block assists and sophomore Nicole Grambley had seven assists. The Colonels' Courtney Carroll led the match with 34 digs.

Wesleyan will play Worcester St. Saturday at 11a.m., followed by Curry College at 2p.m. Mitchell will play Curry at 11a.m. and Worcester St. at 2p.m. (Recap courtesy of Wesleyan Sports Information)
