Women’s Tennis Downed by CCC Opponent Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team dropped a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match at Endicott College on Saturday afternoon by a score of 9-0. With the win, the Gulls improve to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the CCC. The Colonels move to 0-9 on the season with a league mark of 0-3.

At first doubles, Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Cameron Foley (Lynnfield, Mass.) beat Sophia Wiernusz (Collegeville, Pa.) and Alison Daigle (Edgartown, Mass.) 8-3. Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.) and Cara McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) won second 8-1 over Kelsie Merrill (Hope, Maine) and Samantha Gilbert (Bedford, Mass.). The Gulls took third doubles by default.

Endicott continued their momentum into singles play, as Olivia Berler (Marstons Mills, Mass.) topped Wiernusz 6-4, 7-5 at first. Jennifer Stone (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) collected another Gull point with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Daigle at second. Clare O'Keefe (Lutz, Fla.) topped Curry's Merrill at third 6-1, 6-2, while Grace Hiza (Milford, Conn.) took down Gilbert at fourth by a score of 6-0, 6-1. The Gulls completed the sweep by taking fifth and sixth singles by default.

The Colonels get back to action with another CCC match on Tuesday, September 24 as the Wentworth Leopards head to Milton for a 3:30 p.m. start. The Gulls also continue league play on Tuesday, as they travel to face Roger Williams in a 4:00 p.m. match.
