2019 Women's Tennis Season Preview/Outlook

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team returns to the courts on Friday, August 30 at home against Johnson & Wales University where they will look to start strong and carry the momentum throughout the season.

WHAT TO LOOK FORWARD TO

  • With no seniors on the roster, Curry's junior class of Alison Daigle (Edgartown, Mass.), Samantha Gilbert (Bedford, Mass.) (captain), and Kelsie Merrill (Hope, Maine) will be looked upon to lead the team.
  • The Colonels have brought in a strong recruiting class of four new student-athletes. The newcomer list includes Malibu Champagne (North Smithfield, R.I.), Sara Johnson (Amesbury, Mass.), Natalie Valvo (Hermosa Beach, Calif.), and Sophia Wiernusz (Collegeville, Pa.). Wiernusz will look to make an impact right away as she comes into Curry with a Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of four, according to tennisrecruiting.net.
  • "My expectations for this team is to be more competitive," head coach Cory Tusler said. "We also need to be mentally tough so the team can win more dual matches."
  • "We will look to play well against Western New England and Wentworth, so the team can work its way into the conference tournament," Tusler said.
