Women's Soccer Shut Out by Visiting Framingham State, 4-0

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team lost to the visiting Rams of Framingham State University, 4-0, on Wednesday evening.  The Colonels fell to 3-1 overall.  The Rams advanced to 2-1 on the season.

Both teams came out strong to begin the first half of play, but the Ram's took control midway through and managed to outshoot the Colonel's 11-6. Curry's senior goaltender, Hayley Lorge (Beverly, Mass.) kept the game scoreless until the 26:44 minute mark. Framingham's junior forward, Isabela DeSouza (Framingham, Mass.) scored the first goal of the game when she dribble by the Colonels defense and netted the ball into the low corner past Lorge.  Curry tried to answer back but time ran out and the half ended 1-0 in favor of the Rams.

The Rams came out strong to begin the final 45 minutes of play.  Framingham controlled most of the half and were able to put up three more to finish the game with four.  The Rams sophomore goaltender Sara Sullivan (Quincy, Mass.) held the Colonels scoreless despite their effort of placing six shots on net.  Framingham netted their second at the 59:01 minute mark. Junior Marisa Parent (Revere, Mass.) received a cross pass from sophomore Marissa Miele (Hudson, Mass.) for her first tally of the match.  DeSouza's second of the night came unassisted at 26:01.  The Ram's fourth and final goal was scored by senior Kayla Austin (Winchester, Mass.) at 24:47 showing on the board assisted by Miele

Curry finished with 14 shots, 11 on net, three corners and nine fouls.  Framingham ended with 25 shots, eight on goal, zero corners and 14 fouls.

Lorge made nine saves in net for the Colonels in her 70:45 minutes of play for the loss. Freshman Christina Chiofalo (Smithtown, N.Y.) made two saves in her 15:15 minutes of play. Junior Christine Hillier (Westborough, Mass.) finished out the game for the Colonel's letting on no saves in her 5:00 minutes. The Rams goaltender Sullivan made eight saves in the win.

The Colonel's will host Salve Regina University on Saturday, September 14 for a 7:30 pm match. Framingham State will travel to Southern Maine University on Saturday, September 14 for a 12:30 pm game.
