WORCESTER, Mass. - Junior attack, Kelly Parker (Branford, Conn.) tallied seven goals on the night as the Curry College Colonels (9-4) outlasted the Worcester State Lancers (4-7) Thursday night with a 17-16 win.

The Lancers opened up the contest with a 4-1 lead less than seven minutes in but would soon give up the lead. The Colonels came back with a 4-0 run of their own to take the lead midway through the first half. Curry's Parker scored three straight goals, two of which were unassisted, to lead in the 4-0 run. The Lancers would fight back to go back-and-forth with Curry and go into the intermission tied at ten apiece.

The Colonels came out of the gate with a three-goal run and take a 13-10 lead. The blue and gold would claw their way back for most of the second frame. Neither team could gain serious momentum after Curry's opening three goals. Neither team was able to build a lead of more than two goals nor it was that way until the final seconds of the match. Curry, with a two-goal advantage with under a minute left, allowed Kaila Chase (Northbridge, Mass) a free position shot and she buried the opportunity. This made the game a nail-biter with the clock winding down. The Lancers had one more opportunity to tie the game up at 17 but the Colonels just stopped a scoring chance to end the game at 17-16.

Curry's Annie Douglas (Manchester, N.H.) improved her record to 9-4 on the season with her 14 save performance. Worcester's Krissy Pessa (Walpole, Mass) falls to 4-7 on the season with her 17 save performance.

Jackie Connors (Ashland, Mass) led the Lancers as she registered four goals and one assist. Chase also had a multipoint game scoring two goals of her own while also having two assists.

Curry College was 16-18 on clear attempts and Worcester State fell just short while going 15-18. In the ground ball department, Curry just edged out Worcester with 12 ground balls to Worcester's 11. Curry's Alexis Cran (Branford, Conn.) gathered 15 of Curry's 23 draw controls, as Worcester State as a team only combined for 11.

The Colonels are back in action against Nichols College for a 12:00p.m. home battle on Saturday, April 14. The Lancers return to action on Saturday, April 14 for a 1:00p.m. MASCAC matchup against state school rival Framingham State.
