Women's Lacrosse Falls to Roger Williams 21-4 in CCC Action

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse defeated the Colonels of Curry College 21-4.  The Hawks improve to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.  The Colonels slide to 1-5 and 0-1 in the CCC.

The Hawks came out with a flurry of offense on Saturday afternoon, possessing the ball for a majority of the first half. Curry started the scoring at 27:30 with an unassisted score by Lauren Caroll (Providence, R.I.) that gave the Colonels the early lead.   

The Hawks answered with the next two scores to take the lead on Deven Machette (Norwalk, Conn.) free position goals.  Kaelin Hogan (Bethel, Conn.) add a third free position score to put the game at 3-1 at 22:10.  McKenna Everding (Fayetteville, N.Y.) scored the Hawks fourth on an assist from Rahilly.  The fifth goal linked Everding and Rahilly but reversed the roles.

Alexis Cran (Branford, Conn.) scored the Colonels second on a free position finish.  The Hawks scored their sixth goal when Rahilly found Hogan cutting to the front of the goal with 16:25 to play in the first.  At 14:43 the Hawks extended their lead to five goals with a Caitlin Murphy (Londonderry, N.H.) free position shot.  The Hawks scored their eighth at 12:27 on a Rahilly assist from behind the goal that hit Machette cutting for the finish.  Everding dished to Hogan out of a free position start at 11:50 that forced a Colonels timeout with the score at 9-2. Carly Martin (Scituate, Mass.) hit Machette cutting for her third goal of the day at 7:45. 

The Hawks continued the onslaught scoring again at 6:59 when Rahilly found Hogan to bring the contest at 11-2. The Hawks spread the lead to ten at 4:53 when Everding finished a unassisted free position shot.

Curry's Malorie Knowlton (Norfolk, Mass.) finally answers with 1:16 left in the first half to bring their total to two.  Hawks scored their final goal with :26 left in the half when Everding dished to Machette.

Out of the half time intermission the Hawks continued to roll with a Hogan scoring the fourteenth of the game and her fourth of the day. Samantha Davenport (Bethel, Conn.) finished for the next two goals.  The first coming on a Hogan assist and the second coming from Rahilly less than a minute later. Hogan continued to impress scoring again at 21:30 and bring the contest to 17-3.  Andie Krefsky (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the year on assist from Hogan that put the game out of reach at 18-3.  The team traded goals to bring the final score to 21-4

Kimberly Bolk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) earned the win in goal while Christina Wallis (Peabody, Mass.) takes the loss.

The Hawks return to the field in Beverly, Mass to take of Endicott on March 25 at 4:00 p.m. while Colonels take on Simmons on Monday, March 23 at 6:00 p.m. for a non-league contest.  (Game Story Courtesy of RWU Sports Information)
