Irwin, Perine Sweep CCC Weekly Awards

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – A pair of Curry College women's basketball student-athletes swept the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) weekly awards as senior captain Emily Irwin (Billerica, Mass.) was tabbed as the CCC Player of the Week while freshman Peyton Perine (Fairfax, Va.) was named as the CCC Rookie of the Week.

Irwin grabbed her third Player of the Week nod after she posted more monster averages. She averaged a double-double with 21.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. She also averaged 6.0 assists and 6.3 steals during the week. She opened the week with a near triple-double as she scored 18 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and made nine steals against MCLA. She also had seven assists in the contest. She followed that up with another double-double as she scored 22 points and collected 13 rebounds against Roger Williams, while handing out another seven assists. She finished the week with 25 points, four rebounds, four assists, and five steals against Salve Regina.

Perine takes home her league-leading ninth Rookie of the Week honors after she had three double-digit scoring games during a 2-1 week for the Colonels. Perine opened the week with 12 points against MCLA, while also grabbing five rebounds. She then put up 20 points and four rebounds against Roger Williams. Perine finished out the week with a 16-point, five-rebound game against Salve Regina.

Irwin, Perine, and Curry (14-11 overall, 10-6 CCC) have earned the number five seed for the CCC Championship Tournament and will travel to fourth-seeded Roger Williams on Tuesday, February 19 at 5:30 p.m.
