Irwin Tabbed as CCC Player of the Week

MILTON, Mass. – Sophomore Emily Irwin (Billerica, Mass.) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference "Player of the Week", as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. She helped lead Curry to a 2-0 week, including four straight wins overall.

Irwin had a career-week this week as she averaged 27.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 7.5 steals per game while the Colonels went 2-0 in conference play. She opened the week by tying Curry's single-game scoring record with 36 points on 10-for-17 (58.8 percent) shooting. Sixteen of Irwin's points came from the charity stripe as she made 16 of her 21 free throws, which was also a Colonel's single-game record. She also had six rebounds, two assists, and seven steals in the 58-55 overtime win. She then closed out the week with a team-high 19 points against Nichols on Saturday (Feb. 4). In that game she had seven rebounds, five assists, and eight more steals. Irwin currently leads the conference in assists (3.5 apg) and steals (4.5 spg).

Irwin and the Colonels return to action on Wednesday when they travel to the University of New England for a 7:30 tip.
