Women's Basketball Absorbs 73-46 Loss to CCC Rival Roger Williams

MILTON, Mass. – Roger Williams easily handled Curry College, 73-46, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball action Wednesday night in Milton. The Hawks improved to 18-4 on the season and 13-2 in conference play, while the Colonels fell to 13-9 overall and 9-6 in CCC contests.

Roger Williams took its biggest lead of the first frame (31-18) after senior Ari Renwick (Westwood, Mass.) converted a layup. Curry sophomore Shannon Griffith (West Hartford, Conn.) concluded the first half scoring with a three-point play, trimming the deficit to 10 (31-21) heading into the break.

In the second half, the Hawks shot 51.9% and outscored the Colonels by 17 points (42-25). Roger Williams claimed its largest lead of the game (73-42) after sophomore Rachel Battista (Johnston, R.I.) sank a three-pointer with 2:49 left in the game.

Senior Kaitlyn Bovee (Berlin, Conn.) led the Hawks with a double-double, recording 25 points and 11 rebounds. Renwick added 12 points, while Battista had 10.

Junior Jeanette Fallon (Nashua, N.H.) led Curry with 12 points, while classmate Kylie Beltz (Pequot Lakes, Minn.) chipped in with 10. Griffith contributed eight points and nine rebounds.

Both teams return to CCC action on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., as the Hawks host Wentworth, while the Colonels travel to Endicott.
