MILTON, Mass. – Curry College senior Ashley Assarian (Chicopee, Mass.) and junior Kylie Beltz (Pequot Lakes, Minn.) each scored 25 points, leading the Colonels to a 75-69 victory over UMass Dartmouth in non-conference women's basketball action Thursday evening in Milton. Curry improves to 12-8 on the season, while the Corsairs fall to 11-9.

After a layup by junior Kelsey Garrity (Somerville, Mass.) at 13:56 of the opening frame, UMass Dartmouth trailed, 10-9. The Colonels then went on a 13-0 run starting with a three-pointer by Beltz at 13:23 and ending with a pair of made free throws by sophomore Shannon Griffith (West Hartford, Conn.). Curry maintained a double-digit lead for the remainder of the first half, and entered the break with a 35-25 advantage.

In the second half, the Corsairs fell behind by as many as 18 points before mounting a furious late-game comeback attempt. Assarian drained one of her six three-pointers on the night at 7:05 and was fouled in the act of shooting. After a made free throw, the Colonels led 65-47. UMass Dartmouth then used the next six minutes to outscore Curry 22-7 and pull to within three (72-69). That is as close as the visitors would come as the Colonels made three of four free throws in the final 28 seconds to clinch the victory.

Assarian scored 16 of her career-high 25 points in the first half. Beltz shared game-high scoring honors, while also contributing five assists and three steals. Junior Jeanette Fallon (Nashua, N.H.) pulled down a team high nine rebounds.

Garrity led the Corsairs with 21 points and seven assists. Senior Erika Bornemann (Canton, Mass.) and freshman Megan Ronaghan (North Attleboro, Mass.) contributed 17 and 11 points, respectively. Junior Erin Fahey (Salem, Mass.) grabbed a game-high 10 boards.

Both teams return to conference action on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., with Curry hosting Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rival Gordon, and UMass Dartmouth squaring off against Little East Conference (LEC) opponent Southern Maine.
