Women's Basketball Captures 52-46 Win Over Visiting CCC Rival Wentworth

MILTON, Mass. – Curry College outlasted visiting Wentworth, 52-46, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball action Saturday afternoon in Milton. The Colonels improved to 8-8 on the season and 5-5 in CCC action, while the Leopards fell to 5-10 overall and 2-7 in league play.

Curry took its biggest lead of the first period (24-16) after junior Jeanette Fallon (Nashua, N.H.) sank a jumper with 42 seconds on the clock. On the following possession, Wentworth concluded the first half scoring with a jump shot by senior Ashley Stowe (Charlestown, R.I.) to trim the deficit to six (24-18) heading into intermission.

The Leopards chipped away in the second half, and claimed a 41-40 edge with 4:20 left in regulation after sophomore Megan McLaughlin (Southington, Conn.) made a jumper. The Colonels reclaimed the lead (45-44) with 2:06 remaining in the second frame after Fallon sank a pair from the charity stripe. Over the final two minutes, Curry converted on seven-of-eight attempts at the free-throw line to secure the 52-46 victory.

Fallon led all scorers with 16 points. Juniors Kylie Beltz (Pequot Lakes, Minn.) and Christina Deiorio (Stoughton, Mass.) added 11 points apiece. Freshman Kelly Duggan (Norwood, Mass.) pulled down a team-high nine boards.

Sophomore Rachael Camara (Fall River, Mass.) led Wentworth with a team-best 15 points, while classmate Carly Rogers (Scarborough, Maine) chipped in with 12. Senior Kendra Kerr (Marshfield, Mass.) recorded a team-high nine rebounds.

The Colonels return to action on Wednesday, hosting Western New England for a 5:30 p.m. CCC contest, while the Leopards resume play on Monday against visiting CCC rival Endicott for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
