Eighth-Seeded Women's Basketball Will Face Top-Seeded Salve Regina in TCCC Quarterfinals

MILTON, Mass. - Salve Regina University has earned the top seed for The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) women’s basketball championship, which begins with quarterfinal matchups on campus sites Tuesday.

The Seahawks (22-3 overall) captured the top seed in the conference tournament after compiling a perfect 13-0 record in TCCC play and posting Salve Regina’s second 20-win season in three years.

On Tuesday, Salve Regina will host #8 seed Curry (17-8, 6-7), while #2 seed University of New England (19-6, 12-1) will host #7 seed Western New England (14-11, 6-7), #3 seed Colby-Sawyer (14-10, 10-3) will host #6 seed Roger Williams (15-9, 8-5), and #4 seed Endicott (16-8, 10-3) will host #5 seed Regis (15-10, 9-4).

TCCC tiebreaking procedures were utilized to seed teams with identical conference records in the final regular-season standings. Both Colby-Sawyer and Endicott finished tied for third place with identical 10-3 TCCC records. Colby-Sawyer was awarded the #3 seed by virtue of a victory in the teams’ lone conference matchup. In addition, Western New England and Curry finished tied for seventh place with identical 6-7 TCCC records. Western New England was awarded the #7 seed by virtue of a victory in the teams’ lone conference matchup.

All quarterfinal games are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.

Quarterfinal winners will advance to the semifinal round which will be played on Thursday, February 24 at the sites of the higher seed. Games are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m., but may be altered in the event that one institution hosts both a men’s and a women’s contest.

Semifinal winners will square off for the conference championship on Saturday, February 26 at 2:00 p.m. at the site of the higher seed.
