WBB Falls at Lasell College 63-51 in Non-Conference Action

NEWTON, Mass. - Curry held a slim lead at the half, but host Lasell scored 35 second-half points to defeat the Colonels, 63-51, Tuesday night in Newton. Curry (6-11) suffered its fifth loss in its last six games. Lasell improved to 5-12.

The Colonels overcame a nine-point deficit with six minutes remaining in the opening frame, and took a 30-28 lead at intermission. Junior Jennifer Olejnik capped the comeback by draining a three-pointer with one second left on the clock.

The second half was dominated by the host Lasers, who came out of the locker room and posted an immediate 13-2 run that gave them the lead for good. The Colonels could get no closer than five points (47-42) at 8:22 after junior Cortney Robinson hit a layup, got fouled, and added a free throw.

Lasell's scoring leaders included Reegan Brackett (11), Tricia Culver (11) and JoAnna Bishop (10). Kim Archibald was the Lasers' top rebounder with nine.

Curry was led by freshman Julia Scrubb, who poured in a game-high 13 points, and senior Liz Forte, who chipped in with 12. Scrubb led the visitors on the boards with nine rebounds.

The Colonels resume TCCC play on Thursday with a 6:00 p.m. contest at Anna Maria College.
