Visiting Regis Knocks Off WBB, 84-74, in TCCC Hoops Action
MILTON, Mass. – Regis College notched a 50-point first half, then coasted to an 84-74 win against Curry College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference women’s basketball action Saturday in Milton. The Pride improves to 8-7 overall and 2-1 in TCCC play, while the Colonels fall to 5-9 overall and 0-3 in TCCC play.

Curry held its own early in the first half, but a jump shot by freshman guard Bianca Flores (Dorchester, MA) put Regis up 27-26 with 9:30 remaining and the visitors would not trail the rest of the way. Regis took a 50-41 lead at intermission.

In the second half, the Pride held its biggest lead (74-61) with 4:50 remaining after a pair of free throws by sophomore guard Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, MA). The Colonels could not close the gap and fell 84-74.

Crawford, Flores and senior guard Jessica Page (Quincy, MA) led Regis in scoring with 13 points apiece. Sophomore guard Meagan Tobin (Quincy, MA) contributed 11 points. Sophomore forward Cassie Americain (Malden, MA) also scored in double digits with 10. Page posted a double-double with a game-high 13 rebounds.

Curry was led by freshman forward Hailey Rafferty (Worcester, MA), who poured in a game-high 16 points. Senior guard Liz Forte (Rutland, VT) added 15 points, junior guard Joneiha Veiga (Brockton, MA) chipped in with 14 and junior forward Danyel Cousins (Brunswick, ME) contributed  11. Junior forward Cortney Robinson (Brockton, MA) led the Colonels on the boards with nine rebounds.

Curry returns to action on January 19, hosting Colby-Sawyer at 6:00 p.m. Regis next travels to New England College on January 20 for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
