Softball Earns #3 Seed in CCC Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Endicott College will be the top seed for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) softball championship, which begins with opening-round games on Sunday, April 27. The Gulls (22-11-1 overall) earned the top seed by virtue of tying Salve Regina University (19-15 overall, 14-4 CCC) atop the regular-season standings with a 14-4 conference record.

Endicott, second-seeded Salve Regina, third-seeded Curry College (23-15, 12-6) and fourth-seeded University of New England (23-15, 12-6) all earned byes directly into the double-elimination phase of the tournament.

On Tuesday, No. 6 Roger Williams will face No. 3 seed Curry at 2:30 p.m. at Salve Regina. The winner of that game will face the second-seeded Seahawks 20 minutes after the end of the first game.

Also on Tuesday, No. 5 Western New England will face No. 4 seed University of New England at 2:30 p.m. at Endicott. The winner of that game will face the top-seeded Gulls 20 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.

Tournament action will continue on Thursday, May 1 at Endicott College and a satellite field at Gordon College, and will culminate with the championship game on Saturday, May 3. The CCC tournament champion will earn an automatic berth in the upcoming 2014 NCAA Division III Softball Championship.
