Men's Tennis Drops CCC Opener To Roger Williams, 9-0

MILTON, Mass. –The Curry College men's tennis team dropped a conference match to visiting Roger Williams University 9-0 this afternoon. The win moves the Hawks to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the CCC while the Colonels fall to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

Roger Williams swept Curry in all six single matches and three doubles.

The Hawks number one singles player, Jake Cole (Sterling, Va.) won his match 6-3, 6-2 against Ryan Sullivan (Winnetka, Ill.).  Roger Williams' number two singles player Brendan White (Old Lyme, Conn.) claimed his tilt verse Dawson Stento (Wellesley Hills, Mass.), 6-3, 6-2. In number three singles, the Colonels Richie Hefler (Canton, Conn.) was bested by Grant Rosenberg (Melville, N.Y.), 6-1, 6-1. Nick Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) earned the number four singles win for Roger Williams by a forfeit from Zach Muller (Methuen, Mass.).The Hawks' Alex Bonanno (Westford, Mass.) earned 6-3, 6-0 wins over Daniel Ritucci (Middleboro, Mass.) and at the number six position Matthew Russo (Branford, Conn.) defeated Curry's Samuel Pitts (Cohasset, Mass.), 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, the number one pair of Rosenberg and Spoor earned an 8-0 victory over the Colonels Stento and Hefler.  The number two duo of Cole and Russo bested Curry's Sullivan and Muller, 8-1.  In the final match on the day, number three Hawks doubles team of White and Matty Feldman (Duxbury, Mass.) outlasted Ben Higgins (Yarmouth, Maine) and Pitts, 8-0.

The Colonels return to action on Monday, Apr. 3 at 3:00 when they host Suffolk.  The Hawks return to action on Sunday when they host Connecticut College at 1:00 p.m.
