Men's Tennis Tabbed Ninth in CCC Preseason Coaches' Poll

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Curry College men's tennis team has been picked ninth out of nine teams in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.

The Curry men's tennis team will welcome five freshmen to the 2017 roster. Dawson Stento, Daniel Ritucci (Middleboro, Mass.) and Richie Hefler (Canton, Conn.) make up the sophomore class while Nizar Akkawi (East Falmouth, Mass.) is the squad's lone senior. The Curry squad is looking forward to improving their record and conference standings.

Defending CCC Tournament Champion Nichols took the top spot in the poll with 78 points as the Bison look for their sixth straight title. Nichols received six first place votes. Endicott landed in the second spot, collecting 64 points and one first place vote. Taking the third spot was Roger Williams, as they accumulated 61 points and one first place. Registering 59 points and the final first place vote was Eastern Nazarene.

Gordon (53), Western New England (34) Wentworth (25), Salve Regina (21) and Curry (10) close out the poll in that order.

Curry opens the 2017 season on Sunday Mar. 12 as they will travel to Orlando, Fla. to play the first of five matches. The Colonels will battle UMass.-Boston at a time to be announced.
