Colonels Absorb 9-0 Loss to Visiting Conference Foe Endicott College

MILTON, Mass.  – The Curry College Men's Tennis team fell to visiting Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Endicott College, 9-0, Saturday afternoon in Milton. The Colonels dropped to 1-15 on the season and 0-6 in the CCC, while the Gulls improved to 8-6 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

The Wildcats swept all six singles matches starting with sophomore Christopher Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Mass.) beating senior captain Toma Blatchford (Westmount, Quebec) 6-3, 6-0. Senior Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) knocked off freshman Richie Hefler (Canton, Conn.) 6-1 and 6-0, and then sophomore Matthew Doherty (Plymouth, Mass.) got past senior Charlie Paltsios (Westford, Mass.) 6-3 and 6-4.

Freshman Ozan Cermik (Cumberland, R.I.) beat freshman Daniel Ritucci (Middleboro, Mass.) 6-1 and 6-1. Next, sophomore Sam Salvas (Stowe, VT.) defeated freshman Sergie Evans (New York, N.Y.) 6-0 twice. Finally, freshman Anthony Rinaldi (Attleboro Falls, Mass.) triumphed over sophomore Nizar Akkawi (East Falmouth, Mass.) 6-0 and 6-0.

The Colonels were swept in the doubles, starting with junior Eric Pierce (Barrington, R.I.) and freshman Keaton McCleary (Newtown, Conn.) winning 8-1 over Blatchford and Hefler, followed by junior Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) and sophomore Nicholas Eherts (New Milford, Conn.) winning 8-2 over Paltsios and Ritucci. Finally, freshman classmates Jeffrey Thor (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Christos Papadopoulos (Weymouth, Mass.) bested Evans and Akkawi, 8-0.

Curry returns to action Wednesday as they host UMass Dartmouth in a non-conference match up while Endicott will travel to Gordon College for a conference battle Monday evening.
