Men's Tennis Falls to Gordon College, 9-0

MILTON, Mass. – Visiting Gordon College shut out Curry, 9-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's tennis action Monday afternoon in Milton. With the victory, the Fighting Scots are now 7-12 on the season and 2-5 in league play. The Colonels fall to 2-13 overall and 1-6 in CCC action.

Gordon opened by sweeping all three doubles matches. Senior Kenny Gaudio (Miller Place, N.Y.) and sophomore Zach Hall (Sugar Land, Texas) defeated sophomore Toma Blatchford (Westmount, Quebec) and junior Joe Berger (Middleboro, Mass.), 8-2, at #1; sophomore Joe Daughtery (Norfolk, Va.) and junior Dan Christensen (Attleboro, Mass.) defeated seniors Lucas Donaway (Foxboro, Mass.) and Frank LaMotte (Chestertown, Md.), 8-1, at #2; and sophomore classmates Richie Armand (Hempstead, N.Y.) and Daniel Dufoe (Malvern, Pa.) took care of freshman Cory Flax (Potomac, Md.) and senior Nicholas Ironside (Wellesley, Mass.), 8-2, at #3.

The singles match's went the same way for Gordon, with Hall blanking Blatchford, 6-0, 6-0, at #1; Gaudio handling Berger, 6-1, 6-1, at #2; Daughtery with a hard fought win over Donaway, 2-6, 6-3, 10-6 at #3; Armand blanking Lamotte 6-0, 6-0, at #4; Christensen putting away senior Evan Fishman (Glen Ridge, N.J), 6-3, 6-0, at #5; and freshman Daniel Alvarado (Bedford, N.H.) defeating Flax, 7-5, 6-3, at #6.

Both teams are back in action on Wednesday, with Gordon at CCC foe Wentworth (4:00 p.m.) and Curry visiting league rival Eastern Nazarene (3:30 p.m.).
