Men's Lacrosse Announces 2015 Schedule

The Curry College Men's Lacrosse Team has revealed its 2015 schedule. With this release, the Colonels unveil seven contests against strong, non-conference opponents to begin the year, and punctuate the season with the increasingly tough slate provided by the eight Commonwealth Coast Conference foes.

The season will kick off when the Colonels host second year program Johnson & Wales University (RI) on February 28th at Katz Field. Head Coach Tim Murphy states, "Despite being a new program, this is a team that went to its conference tournament last year. We expect it to be a hard fought game, a great way to open up the year." After this, the Colonels will be off and running as they play eight games in the month of March.

The Team will travel to play three opponents during the week of Spring Break from the 6th to the 14th. Keystone College (PA), another new program, will be first up on the road trip when the Colonels visit their new stadium in La Plume, PA on the 7th of March. From there, Curry will head to Winchester, VA and home of the Shenandoah University Hornets on the 11th to square up against the already 1-0 member of the perennial powerhouse Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Colonels will round out their road trip with a March 14th rematch of 2014's Spring Break contest against Manhattanville College (NY), which ended in a narrow 4-2 victory for Curry.

Returning to the Northeast, the Team will play host to in-state rivals Wheaton College (MA) and Salem State University (MA) on the 18th and 21st. The day after the game versus Salem State, Sunday, March 22nd, the Curry Men's Lacrosse staff will host a Showcase Clinic for prospective student-athletes.  The non-conference play will conclude on the 25th with a visit to Norwich University (VT) to take on the Cadets. The Colonels have had varied success against these out-of-conference competitors over the years, and Coach Murphy expects this season to present another exciting challenge. "We try to schedule teams that will give us great matchups, and really make the guys ready for our Conference season. We have been successful in some of these games, while other teams have had our number in recent years. We know each one will be a test, and that's what we want."

Kicking off the Conference play will be an eventful day on Saturday the 28th, when the Colonels host Wentworth at 12 pm. After the tilt, former Curry Lacrosse players will take part in an Alumni function on campus, before rooting on the Women's Lacrosse team at 3 pm. The Men will complete the busy month of March on the 31st with a game at Nichols College.

Again, on April 4th, the Team will be away at Roger Williams, before returning for a three game home stand on the 7th, 11th, and 14th to take on Gordon, Western New England, and University of New England, respectively.  The final games of the regular season will be on the road against Salve Regina on the 18th, and Endicott on the 22nd of April.

Coach Murphy describes the competition in the CCC as "one of the fastest growing in the country in Division III", highlighting three members that are in the top ten preseason poll by the NEILA (Endicott-3, WNEU-8, and Roger Williams-10). Exceeding the regional accomplishment of the CCC, Endicott is nationally ranked #13 according to the USILA.
