Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past Visiting Norwich, 9-4, in Non-Conference Action

MILTON, Mass. — The Curry College men's lacrosse team scored eight-straight goals spanning three quarters en route to a 9-4 non-conference win against the visiting Cadets of Norwich University on Wednesday afternoon.

With the win, the Colonels improve to 2-1 on the season, while the loss drops the Cadets to 0-3.

Curry's Harrison Foster (Saddle River, N.J.) was the leading scorer on the afternoon with three goals. Connor Arnold (Clifton Park, N.Y.) added a goal and an assist for the Colonels, while Connor McKeon (Larchmont, N.Y.) chipped in with two goals.

Norwich would net the first goal of the game as Patrick Tommins (Fairfield, Conn.) scored off a pass from Brett Sewing (Brattleboro, Vt.) at the 11:50 mark of the first quarter.

Curry answered almost three-and-a-half minutes later on Foster's first goal of the day, and after 8:11 of scoreless lacrosse, the hosts took the lead on a goal by McKeon with 11 seconds left in the quarter.

The Colonels saw second-quarter goals from Arnold, Kevin Vincens (Ellington, Conn.), Foster, Sean Ahern (Natick, Mass.), and McKeon. After Arnold scored at the 13:53 mark, Vincens, Foster and Ahern netted three-straight goals in a two-minute stretch, including man-up opportunities for both Foster and Ahern. The Colonels held a 7-1 lead at halftime.

The Cadets' defense held the Colonels to just one tally in the third quarter, which was scored by Ronald Jensen (Zionsville, Ind.) with 8:01 still to play. The Cadets, who registered just one shot-on-goal in the first half, also increased their offensive intensity and tallied five shots-on-goal in the third quarter.

After almost 30 minutes of scoreless lacrosse, the Cadets were able to snap their drought at 13:09 of the final frame when Ian Thomas (Barrington, R.I.) took advantage of a Curry penalty to score the Cadets' first man-up goal of the 2014 season. Zachary McMillan (Brunswick, Maine) assisted on the goal.

Norwich's Seth Fuller (Wheaton, Ill.) would net back-to-back goals less than a minute apart at 4:27 and 3:39 to cut the Colonels' lead to 8-4, but the Colonels' sealed the win with a final tally by Foster with 11 seconds left in the game.

Curry goaltender Timothy McNair (Wilmette, Ill.) recorded seven saves in the win, while Norwich netminder Mark Paradiso (Westford, Mass.) registered nine saves in the complete-game effort.

Curry's Peter Duggan (Rocky Point, N.Y.) won a game-high eight face-offs for the Colonels, while Norwich's Andrew Bracy (Carthage, N.Y.) was 6-for-12 for the Cadets. Christian Rappa (Stoneham, Mass.) registered a game-high five ground balls for Curry, while Andrew Dustin (Canterbury, N.H.) scooped up four ground balls for the Cadets.
