Men's Lacrosse Falls to Endicott College, 14-5, in Conference Opener

MILTON, Mass. –Endicott College defeated Curry College, 14-5 on Wednesday night in Milton, Mass.  With the win the Gulls improved to 6-3 overall and remained undefeated at 3-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.  The Colonels fell to 6-2 overall and 0-1 in the CCC. 

Curry was the first to get on the board just 2:22 minutes into the game.  Senior Russell Lanham (Silver Spring, Md.) scored his first of two goals on the night off an assist by freshman Ronald Jensen (Zionsville, Ind.).  Endicott tallied the next two goals both by senior Brendan Eppley (Darien, Conn.).  Senior Connor Prescott (Norwalk, Conn.) was credited on one of Eppleys’ scores.  Sophomore Connor Arnold (Clifton Park, N.Y) evened the score at two off another Jensen assist. 

Only three goals were scored in the second period, two by the Gulls and one by the Colonels.  Endicott held just a one goal lead to head into the break.  The Gulls got tallies by Eppley and junior Peter Erickson (Yarmouth, Maine) who scored on a man-up situation.  Freshman John Castellano (Scarsdale, N.Y.) scored his lone goal of the night for Curry. 

Endicott came out strong in the third period to net six goals and held Curry scoreless to increase their lead by seven.  Eppley tallied the first two goals and Erickson, juniors Nick Togneri (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Ryan Sutherland (Sudbury, Mass.) and freshman Jeremy Morgan (Lake Panamoka, N.Y.) each chipped in with one.

The Gulls outscored the Colonels 4-2 in the final frame for the 14-5 victory.  Freshmen Kyle Webber (West Hartford, Conn.), Joshua Tordik (Sayville, N.Y.) and Nick Pinciaro (Beverly, Mass.) and sophomore Chris Murphy (Holden, Mass.) each had a goal.  Lanham and Arnold both scored their second goals of the game. 

Endicott was led by Eppley who finished with five goals.  Lanham, Arnold and Jensen each finished with two points for Curry.

The Gulls outshot the Colonels 51-26.  Endicott also won 18 of 22 face-offs. 

Curry's senior netminder, Michael Hibbard (Chelmsford, Mass.) played solid between the pipes earning making 18 stops in the loss.  Junior Tom Burke (Sudbury, Mass.) earned the win in net for Endicott, making seven saves and allowing just three goals in 55:22 minutes of play.  Sophomore Kaleb Nichols (Sheldon, Vt.) made two saves and allowed two goals in 4:38 minutes in net. 

Curry will travel to Gordon College on Tuesday, April 3 for a 7:00 p.m. game start.  Endicott will travel to Wesleyan on March 31 for a 1:00 p.m. start.
