EVERETT, Mass. – The Curry College men's hockey team defeated the Wentworth Institute of Technology, 4-1, on Saturday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Allied Veteran's Memorial Rink. With the win the Colonels improve their record to 5-4-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the CCC.  The loss drops the Leopards to 3-6-4 on the season and 3-4-1 in the CCC.

Curry jumped on the board just 2:32 into the opening period off a goal from Matthew Henderson (Scarborough, Maine).  The tally was set up by freshman Tarek Paranica (Grand Forks, N.D.) and Vilhelm Peltonen (Helsinki, Finland). Wentworth held a 16-5 shot advantage in the frame but Justin Ketola (Cloquet, Minn.) maintained a clean sheet by converting 16 saves to hold the score at 1-0 heading into the intermission.

The Colonels tacked on its second goal of the night 9:49 into the second. Sophomore Michael Snow (Medford, Mass.) netted his ninth goal of the season with the assists going to freshman tandem of Alexander Bouchard (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Mike Pellegrini (Markham, Ontario). Ketola turned away 13 more shots in the stanza to keep Wentworth off the scoreboard heading into the final period.

The Leopards got on the board for its only goal 9:56 into the final period as junior Nate Chase (Plainfield, Ill.) lit the lamp to make the score 2-1. The assists on the marker went to juniors Adam Tracey (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) and Georgy Gorodetsky (Yekaterinburg, Russia).

Curry tallied two empty net goals for insurance in the final period. Senior Zach White (Milford, Conn.) scored at the 18:26 mark while Viktor Jansson (Stockholm, Sweden) tallied the final goal of the contest with just 47 seconds left in regulation.

Ketola made 38 saves to record the win. Wentworth's freshman goaltender Thomas Draper (Binghamton, N.Y.) made 18 stops in the loss.

The Leopards outshot the Colonels 39-22 while Curry a 39-32 advantage in the faceoff circle.  Neither team was able to capitalize on its opportunities with a man advantage, as Curry was 0-for-3 on their power play and Wentworth was 0-for-7.

Curry will return home to host UMass Boston on Friday, December 7 at 6:50 p.m. for its annual Teddy Bear Toss. Wentworth will also be in action on December 7 at home as they host Saint Anselm at 7:00 p.m.
