First-Half Run Propels Emmanuel Past Men's Basketball

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's basketball team suffered an 83-61 loss to visiting Emmanuel College on Wednesday evening in non-conference action at the Katz Gymnasium.

Junior Zachary Crisafulli (Easthampton, Mass.) led the Saints (3-1 overall) with a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds while also adding a steal and a block. Senior Emmitt Riddick (Middletown, Conn.) joined Crisafulli with 15 points, six boards, three steals, and a block. Juniors Jack Moulder (Newtown, Conn.) and Marcus Fox (Danbury, Conn.) rounded out the scorers in double figures with 14 and 13, respectively.  

Senior Kieran Carroll (Greenwich, Conn.) netted a game-high 16 points and chipped in 15 rebounds to pace the Colonels (3-2 overall). Classmate Daymeann Stewart (Milwaukee, Wis.) chipped in with 15 points, three caroms, and three helpers. Junior RJ Hadfield (Warwick, R.I.) fueled all reserves with nine points off the bench, hitting three triples.

Curry held its largest advantage of the contest when Stewart converted a lay-up to make the score 7-4 with 17:59 left in the first half. The Saints then used a 30-7 burst to increase the margin to 23, 42-19. A jumper by Carroll halted the run, but the Saints embarked on another spurt, this time outscoring the Colonels 10-2 over the final 3:21 of the opening half to go into the locker room with a 52-23 lead.

The Colonels started the second half with five straight points to cut the deficit to 52-28. The deficit never got closer than 21 the rest of the way as the contest as the game ended in the 83-61 final. Moulder recorded nine of his points in the second half while Crisafulli tallied eight in the period. Carroll and Stewart registered 12 and 11 points in the second half for Curry.

Curry will next play at Regis College on Saturday, November 23 at 1:30 p.m. Emmanuel travels to Westfield State for its next tilt on Saturday at noon.
