More Than 300 Student-Athletes Attend Presentation on Promoting Positive Sportsmanship

MILTON, Mass. - On Tuesday evening January 26th over 300 Curry College student-athletes filled into the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium to listen to Dr. Joel Fish speak about promoting positive sportsmanship, identifying or avoiding high-risk situations, and playing the game right.  Dr. Fish also touched on being good teammates, classmates and community leaders and to stand up for what is right.   The student-athletes were engaged and asked to participate in a variety of ways.  Many student-athletes and coaches stayed after the event to ask Dr. Fish more questions.

Dr. Joel Fish is a nationally recognized expert in sport psychology and has worked in the field for over 25 years.  He has worked extensively with athletes of all ages and skills levels, from youth sport through the Olympic and professional ranks.  Dr. Fish has been a consultant for the Philadelphia 76ers, Philadelphia Flyers, the Philadelphia Phillies Organization, the USA Women's National Field Hockey Team, and the USA Women's National Soccer Team.   Dr. Fish has also served as a sport psychology consultant for Saint Joseph's University, the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University, and over 300 other universities.  Dr. Fish has been frequently quoted in the Philadelphia and national media, having been featured numerous times on ABC, CNN, ESPN, Fox, HBO, and NBC.  In addition, he has been featured on television programs such as NBC's Today, HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, ESPN's SportsCenter and Outside The Lines. He is currently the Director of The Center For Sport Psychology in Philadelphia.   Dr. Fish received his Bachelor's degree from Clark University, his Masters from Temple University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
