Men's Basketball Moves to 4-0 in CCC Action with 72-61 Win at Roger Williams
BRISTOL, R.I. – Curry College remained undefeated in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with a 72-61 win over the Roger Williams University Men’s Basketball team Tuesday evening. The Colonels improve to 4-0 in the conference and 7-4 overall, while the Hawks drop to 5-7 and 2-3 in the CCC.

Sedale Jones (Pittsfield, Mass.) flirted with a triple-double for Curry, finishing with a game-high 21 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. Lambros Papalambros (Quincy, Mass.) added 14 points and six rebounds, while Carlos Ribeiro (Charlestown, Mass.) scored 14.

James LeCardi (Fair Haven, N.J.) led Roger Williams with 12 points. Mike Igoe (Lexington, Mass.) chipped in with six points and 11 rebounds. Ryan Palumbo (Warwick, R.I.) added six points and five assists.

The game was tight early on, with four lead changes and one tie in the first half. Ted Amendola (Hyde Park, Mass.) scored the first basket for Curry before back-to-back treys by LeCardi gave RWU the advantage. Curry would eventually retake the lead and go up by six (17-11) on a three-pointer by Jones with 9:04 to play. The Hawks fought back and knotted the game at 29 going into halftime.

In the second half, Jones dropped in a layup less than a minute into the period to give the Colonels a two-point lead. From there, the Colonels would never let the Hawks back into the contest, stretching the lead to 11 points with just over ten minutes to play (49-38).

Roger Williams brought it back to within single digits with 6:15 to play (49-58), but an 11-2 run by Curry quickly erased the momentum and kept the game in favor of the Colonels.

Curry hosts the University of New England on Thursday, while Roger Williams travels to Gordon on the same day. (Game recap courtesy of RWU Sports Information)
