Men's Basketball Captures TCCC Opener 65-55 Over Western New England
MILTON, Mass. – Junior guard Michael Connery (Narragansett, MA) connected on four second-half shots from beyond the arc, lifting Curry past Western New England in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) opener for both squads Saturday afternoon in Milton.

The Colonels (3-9) went on a 14-2 run to build their biggest lead (30-21) of the first period. The run started with a pair of made free throws by sophomore guard Sedale Jones (Pittsfield, MA) and was finished off with a pair from the charity stripe from junior guard Jarrell Jackson (Brockton, MA). Curry took a 32-25 advantage into the break.

WNEC (0-11) responded early in the second half, and went up by four (42-38) with 12:12 remaining. The last tie of the contest (49-49) came at 7:42 after a three-pointer by Golden Bears’ junior guard Andre Shaw (New York, NY). Connery poured in 12 of the Colonels final 16 points, as the hosts outscored WNEC, 16-6, to close out the game.

Connery scored a game-high 20 points, while Jackson and sophomore Eric Guglielmello (Paxton, MA) scored 13 points apiece and Jones chipped in with 12.

Senior forward Brad Tomka (Springfield, MA) led WNEC with 15 points. Senior guard Chris Devine (Wilbraham, MA) added 11. The Golden Bears were led by senior center Conor Lomas (Wilbraham, MA) with a game-high 12 rebounds.

Both teams resume play on January 11 at 8:00 p.m., as Curry hosts the University of New England and WNEC travels to Roger Williams.
