Salve Regina Defeats Curry Football 47-14

MILTON,MASS- The Curry College Football team fell to visiting Salve Regina University by  a final of 47-14 at Walter M. Katz Field on Saturday afternoon. Sam Pascale led all players with 225 yards rushing yards on 13 attempts including two touchdowns. For Curry, Mike O'Hearn (Billerica, Mass.) paced Curry with 111 yards as he completed 11-18 passes on the game.

Dan Delos paced all Curry players with 36 rushing yard while Anthony Nastasi (River Edge, N.J.) brought in six catches for 71 yards.

The Seahawks got the scoring started when James Dawson finished off an eight-play, 75 yard drive with a six-yard run to make the score 7-0. Salve would add to their lead with 5:59 remaining in the first quarter when Andrew Verre tacked on a 22-yard field goal to increase the Salve lead to 10.

After a safety, the Seahawks would add two scores to increase their lead to 26.

With 4:58 remaining in the first half, Curry would get on the board when Fervon Phillips (Nantucket, Mass.) capped off a eight play, 75 yard drive with a two-yard run to make the score 26-7. Salve Regina would add one more touchdown before the end of the first half when Brendan Nunes brought in a 16-yard touchdown pass from Brendan Basil to extend the Seahawks' lead to 33-7 going into the intermission.

In second half action, Salve would add two touchdowns in the third, the first scored off of a 22-yard touchdown run from James Dawson to make the score 40-7 and then Sam Pascale added the last scoring play of the third quarter when then the running back tacked on a 22-yard touchdown run of his own to cap a three-play, 39 yard drive.

Curry scored the final touchdown of the contest when Nick Villenuava (Hanson, Mass.) brought in a seven yard pass from Spencer Tyler (Yarmouthport, Mass.) to cap the final scoring drive with a 11-play, 73 yard drive.

Curry (2-2, 0-2) returns to the field in two weeks on Oct. 15 when they travel to the Coast Guard Academy for a 1:30 p.m. contest. Salve Regina (4-0, 2-0) hosts MIT on Oct. 15 at 1 p.m.
